POSITION: Assistant Director of Admissions
REPORTS TO: Dean of Admissions & Financial Aid
STATUS: Full Time, Exempt
RANGE: $80,000 - $85,000
SUMMARY: Founded in 1901, Brooklyn Law School is a distinguished, independent law school located in Downtown Brooklyn, New York. The fundamental mission of Brooklyn Law School is to provide its students with a comprehensive legal education that gives them the knowledge, skills, and ethical values needed for a career in the law.
The Assistant Director of Admissions works in partnership with the Dean of Admissions & Financial Aid, other admissions officers, and admissions support professionals to develop and implement effective strategies and tactics to accomplish the department's goals. Specifically, this position participates in (1) law school applicant recruitment, counseling, and evaluation, (2) enrollment and yield management, (3) key stakeholder outreach, recruitment, and management, (4) marketing and communication planning, (5) strategic planning, and (6) special project planning, management, and execution.
The Assistant Director of Admissions is especially active in applicant recruiting and counseling, and event planning and execution.
This position reports to the Dean of Admissions & Financial Aid and requires occasional weekend work, as well as frequent domestic business travel to attend law school recruiting activities and relevant professional conferences and events.

Essential Functions
- Represent the law school at law school fairs, forums, universities, and other events across the country.
- Cultivate relationships with prospective students, pre-law advisors, and peer law schools.
- Counsel prospective students regarding programs, application processes and strategies, financial aid, and law school selection.
- Plan, direct, and execute on and off-campus events for prospective and admitted students.
- Utilize applicant tracking software, CRM systems, virtual meeting, and social media to plan, execute and evaluate various admissions, recruitment, and counseling activities.
- Read, evaluate, and recommend decisions for prospective student applications.
- Develop analytical tools and strategies for tracking and improving yield.
- Recruit current students, alumni, faculty, and other law school staff to participate in admissions activities and programs.
- Recruit, hire, train and manage current student admissions assistants.
- Develop, maintain, and improve social media marketing strategies and platforms.
- Create and maintain web and print admissions marketing publications and materials.
- Participate in strategic planning to improve the overall functioning of the department.
- Undertake all planning and execution of designated projects as assigned by the Dean of Admissions.
Qualifications
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree required.
- JD Degree preferred.
All or most of the following
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a challenging professional work environment required.
- Excellent written, oral, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work with culturally diverse stakeholders.
- Experience negotiating financial transactions.
- Experience in graduate level admissions or student affairs preferred.
- Demonstrated ability successfully to manage and multi-task projects with a high degree of attention to detail.
- High degree of proficiency with database, publication, spreadsheet, and other basic business software.
- Sound judgment, discretion, and tact in a highly confidential professional setting.
- Strong demonstrated commitment to professional development.
- Driver's License.
