Marblehead Public Schools is seeking a full-time Elementary Student Services Team Chairperson for the 2024-2025 school year. This is a 204-day administrative position.
Primary Responsibilities: An administrative position that assists the Assistant Superintendent of Student Services in carrying out the state and federal special education mandates for students with disabilities and implementing other supports through the Student Services Department.

Position Responsibilities:
- Establishes and maintains the special education process at their level that is in line with the district special education framework
- Chairs initial, reevaluation and annual review special education meetings
- Attends regular consultation meetings with teachers, therapists, psychologists, outside consultants and others to discuss program components and student concerns
- Maintains open and timely communication with the Assistant Superintendent of Student Services and office personnel
- Coordinates and/or conducts student observations in Special Education programs as needed
- Is responsible for the quality of the Individual Education Plans that are delivered to parents as well as ensuring the appropriate placement, goals and service delivery for all special education students within an assigned school
- Keeps current on all applicable federal and state laws, regulations and best practices in the area of special education in Massachusetts
- May act as liaison for out-of-district students
- Proactively collaborates with building-level leadership to ensure a focus on aligned vision and goals of the school and district
- Shares responsibility with principals in the evaluation of special education staff, including conducting announced and unannounced teacher observations, formative or summative evaluations per the DESE Educator Evaluation model
- Models and promotes best practices in special education teaching
- Recommends and coordinates professional development for special education staff
- Meets regularly with all program teachers and inclusion specialists to discuss student progress and challenges
- Tracks and organizes summer services for students with disabilities
- Participates in district leadership meetings
- Carries out other related special education duties as may be assigned by the Assistant Superintendent of Student Services
