Position Summary and Responsibilities
The Admissions Seasonal Recruiter's primary responsibility is the recruitment of new students to Maine College of Art & Design and assisting the institution in achieving yearly enrollment goals. This is a temporary position that requires extensive domestic travel, meeting with prospective students and their families, conducting group information sessions, individual portfolio reviews, and attending various events. This position requires a commitment to working on weekends, occasional evenings, and most weekdays. - Travel domestically as a representative of the college
- Present information sessions in classroom settings as well as conducting individual portfolio reviews
- Counsel/advise students and parents through the admissions and decision-making process including application, housing, financial aid, and scholarship opportunities
- Participate in on and off-campus recruitment events, i.e. virtual portfolio events and in-person Open Houses
- Promote the College's institutional mission by recognizing that diversity is integral to the academic experience and striving to foster an inclusive culture defined by respect, equity, and social responsibility
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Fine Arts preferred
- MECA&D Alumni preferred
- Valid driver's license preferred
Experience
- Knowledge of Maine College of Art & Design's BFA programs
- Previous experience in a customer service-related position is preferred
Skills and Abilities
- Strong interpersonal skills including strong presentation, verbal, and written communication
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to work independently and think critically to solve problems
- Strong time management skills with an emphasis on dependability
- Ability to offer constructive criticism and address creativity merits of visual art and design works that are 2-D, 3-D, or time-based
- Strong ability to engage visual art and design students in a critical dialogue and ask questions that inspire imagination
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends
- Ability to transport recruiting materials and collateral (~25 lbs)
Compensation and Benefits
- This is a full-time, seasonal position from September - December
- Compensation is pro-rated $45,000 annual salary
- Not benefits eligible due to the shorter nature of the position
