This position is tasked with travel to targeted high schools and middle schools to identify qualified students for Educational Talent Search services and/or to support students once they are participants in the Educational Talent Search program. The recruitment and student support include:

Required Qualifications:
- Two years of experience working in a TRIO federal program or similar program serving first-generation and/or low-income students
- Knowledge of postsecondary entrance processes (e.g., college applications, financial aid scholarships)
- Supervisory experience
- Excellent communication skills
- Attention to detail
- Willing to travel regionally
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Education, Psychology, or a related field from a regionally accredited college or university.
- Personal experience overcoming barriers as a first-generation or low-income student
Responsibilities:
This position is tasked with travel to targeted high schools and middle schools to identify qualified students for Educational Talent Search services and/or to support students once they are participants in the Educational Talent Search program. The recruitment and student support include:
- Providing yearly academic workshops.
- Promoting academic tutoring.
- Assisting with secondary school course selection.
- Providing financial literacy resources.
- Assisting in preparing students for college entrance exams.
- Assisting students in completing college admissions and financial aid applications.
- Organizing or creating opportunities for college exposure.
- Organizing or creating opportunities for exposure to cultural activities.
- Collaborating with counselors and community organizations to provide referrals to meet students' needs.
- Collaborating with personnel of targeted schools to implement TRIO programming.
- Advising and mentoring students, engaging in scholarship/professional development, providing service to the division and the college, as well as engaging in direct and indirect activities to support the recruitment and retention of students.
- Supervise coordination of activities/events/services with co-advisors to ensure all students within the target area have commensurate and comparable access and exposure to college, educational, and cultural opportunities.
- Regular communication with LC State TRIO ETS office staff.
- Data collection and entry.
- Provide program engagement data to the LC State TRIO Director.
- Travel to regional locations to meet with and advise the eligible participant
- Working with LC State TRIO Director for planning and tracking academic year activities, travel, and progress.
- Collaborating with other federally funded programs, like Upward Bound, to ensure services are not duplicated.
- Additional duties include planning and executing direct and indirect activities to support recruitment and retention of students.
