Classification Title Student Services Professional FLSA Exempt FTE 1.00 Minimum Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field is required, Master's degree is preferred.
  • Experience with recruiting, student advising and planning large events.

Position Summary

The Admissions Counselor II position at the Tifton Campus directly supports student success.

Specifically, this position is responsible for recruiting transfer students for the four undergraduate majors offered on the Tifton Campus, as well as the Athens and Griffins campuses, and for the three graduate degrees offered "entirely in residence" on the Tifton Campus. In addition, this position maintains a potential student contact list, contacts potential students regularly, advises incoming students regarding core courses needed prior to admission, oversees completion of transfer applications and submits appeals as needed, organizes and hosts Spring and Fall New Student Orientation for the Tifton campus, mentors and manages the Tifton Campus Student Ambassadors, maintains communications and develops relationships with high school counselors south of Macon and Georgia Agriculture Teachers, and 4-H Agents throughout the state, and organizes and hosts the annual UGA ShowCAES event. UGA ShowCAES is the largest CAES recruiting event in southern Georgia. The event also recruits students who are interested in other colleges at UGA.

In addition, this position will be responsible for organizing and holding STEM in AGtion days, Grad School 101 and Grad Dawgs events, develop transfer pathways with area colleges, and manage the Tifton campus social media accounts. PCARD

Student Recruitment and Advisement
  • Recruit students
  • Manage a prospective student contact list and send regular newsletters
  • Email, call, text, and write prospective students on a regular basis
  • Advise students regarding core courses needed prior to admission
  • Oversee completion of transfer applications and submit appeals as needed
  • Host Spring and Fall New Student Orientation to welcome incoming students to the campus
  • Host prospective students for campus visits

Percentage of time 35 Duties/Responsibilities

Planning and Implementing Recruiting Events
  • Maintain communication & develop relationships with high school counselors south of Macon Maintain communication & develop relationships with Georgia Agriculture Teachers and 4-H Agents on Regional/District and State Level
  • Host annual UGA ShowCAES Event
  • Attend recruitment events that require in-state overnight travel such as: Sunbelt Ag Expo, Georgia National Fair, State FFA Convention
  • Visit public and private schools in South Georgia for admissions presentations & college fairs Attend recruitment events that require out-of-state travel such as National FFA Convention
  • Develop transfer pathways with area colleges
  • Manage the Tifton campus social media accounts, etc.
  • Organize and hold special recruiting events such as STEM in AGtion, Grad School 101 and Grad Dawgs

Percentage of time 35 Duties/Responsibilities

Develop Recruiting Materials
  • Work with designers to create & update recruitment content
  • Create and order promotional materials
  • Work with web team to keep UGA Tifton website up to date
  • Manage Tifton campus recruiting budget

P-Card Duties
  • Serve as a department P-card holder
  • Submit pre-approvals to appropriate approvers
  • Complete purchase transactions
  • Perform allocations and attach receipts in Works
  • Reconcile monthly statements at the end of the billing cycle
  • Upload reconciliation packet to Procurement

Percentage of time 15 Duties/Responsibilities

Supervise UGA Tifton Campus Ambassador Team
  • Hold interviews and selection process
  • Order Ambassador attire
  • Instruct a weekly Ambassador class
  • Provide leadership & recruitment training
  • Provide opportunities for them to gain professional and personal networks
  • Supervise Ambassador event schedule
  • Plan and carry out an annual weekend Ambassador Retreat
