Student Services Advisor
Reports to: Enrollment Manager
Classification: Regular part-time, non-exempt
Direct reports: No direct reports
Position Summary: The Student Services Advisor (SSA) is responsible for providing support to current students from orientation through graduation. In cooperation with other departments (Registrar, Financial Aid, Finance, Student Life, Faculty, etc.), the SSA serves, encourages, and advocates for students to help them persist in their degree through graduation.

Training and development: Job training and development are provided by the enrollment team. Self-initiated study and personal development are both expected and encouraged.
Evaluation: The Student Services Advisor will be evaluated at the end of an introductory period (90- day review) and then on an annual basis.

Position Summary: The Student Services Advisor (SSA) is responsible for providing support to current students from orientation through graduation. In cooperation with other departments (Registrar, Financial Aid, Finance, Student Life, Faculty, etc.), the SSA serves, encourages, and advocates for students to help them persist in their degree through graduation.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Serves as an encourager and advocate for students with regard to academic advising, thinking through financial aid opportunities, course scheduling, etc.
- Counsels students regarding various seminary matters with specific attention on registration and payment/financial aid options to help a student persist in their degree through graduation.
- Helps monitor students schedules and degree checklists to ensure applicable courses related to each student's degree are selected and satisfactory academic performance is maintained.
- Shows special care for new students in their first year of seminary, reaching out to encourage them, and answering their questions and attending to their needs promptly.
- Ensures all matters or issues related to students' academic and financial compliance are attended to and/or resolved in advance of each semester.
- Maintains accurate student information in both the seminary CRM platform as well as the SIS platform to ensure accuracy in student records and reporting.
- Has a strong grasp on program requirements for each degree program at Phoenix Seminary.
- Assists with enrollment department events and activities, including New Student Orientation, Preview Events, occasional recruiting events, student life events, graduation, etc.
- Other responsibilities as assigned by the Enrollment Manager
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to regularly lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to communicate effectively through speech and listening.
Qualifications:
- Strong communication skills demonstrated both written and orally
- Ability to work well on a team with shared goals
- Able to work in a pressured environment to help reach enrollment and retention goals
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products and ability to learn a variety of other computer applications quickly
- Completed undergraduate degree or higher
- High personal and professional integrity consistent with Biblical standards and the statement of faith and governing values of the Phoenix Seminary
- Preferred prior experience in theological education (student or employee)
- Preferred prior experience working with CRM and database program (Blackbaud, Infusionsoft or similar)
