Summary of Position

Advises and counsels prospective students about YSU admissions policies, procedures, and programs of study. Assists in recommending and implementing recruitment strategies and activities.

Position Information

Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Consults with Undergraduate Admissions staff to set recruitment goals by territory, county, and high school; executes specific strategies (e.g. high school visits, college fair visits, and personal contact with prospective students) to achieve goals.

Interacts with diverse populations of prospective students to counsel and explain admissions policy and procedures; discusses available academic programs.

Provides input for recommendations of recruitment strategies for specific market segments and target groups.

Gathers information from external and internal sources to identify and understand how various factors impact assigned territories; evaluates the information to develop strategies within assigned recruitment territory.

Keeps accurate records of recruitment efforts and reports on efforts.

Develops and executes appropriate follow-up to prospective students, parents, and other necessary stakeholders in assigned territory.

Serves as Office of Admissions liaison to assigned YSU college(s). Assists and participates in recruitment efforts in assigned college(s).

Serves as Office of Admissions liaison to assigned student service office(s) to assist with recruitment efforts and participate in any programming related to recruitment.

Assists in evaluating admission applications for acceptance on an as-needed basis.

Other Functions and Responsibilities:Assists with training new hires.

Employs strong communication and public relations skills.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Equipment Operated:Computer and all other standard office equipment.

Work Schedule:Overnight travel, occasional evening and weekend hours.

Supervision Exercised:Supervision is exercised over student employees.

Reports to: Associate Director

Qualifications and Competencies

Required Certifications, Training, and/or Licensures:Valid driver's license.

Minimum Qualifications:At least a bachelor's degree in business, education, communications, or a related field; at least one year of experience working in higher education or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications:Master's degree in higher education administration, counseling, or a related field; at least three years of admissions or related higher education experience; experience in preparing and conducting presentations.
