OU Office of Admissions & Recruitment (OAR) works to bring in the next generation of Sooners. Our team operates from Norman as well as across the state, nation and world. We provide support to incoming domestic and international freshman and transfer students as they navigate the college application and decision process. Additionally, we partner with parents, counselors, and communities in providing resources to students interested in higher education. Our goal is to build a vibrant community with limitless potential by recruiting the most academically qualified students with a variety of educational, service, involvement and community experiences.

We need someone who exhibits:

Responsibilities include:
  • Cultivate and build relationships with prospective students, families, high school counselors, and other key stakeholders across campus and the state of Oklahoma to recruit the best and brightest to OU.
  • Travel and visit the schools within designated territory routinely.
  • Communicate routinely through email, calls, in person visits, and events with prospective students, families, high school counselors, and other key stakeholders across campus and the state of Oklahoma.
  • Fully utilize and attain the proper training for the use of our CRM to communicate and pro-actively outreach to prospective students, families, and high school counselors. Additionally, with use of the CRM, build reports and queries to track the progress and ROI in designated territory.
  • Create strategy, alongside Director of Connection and Student Engagement, to ensure we are meeting the needs of prospective students OAR actively recruits.
  • Review admission applications and make admission decisions for prospective students.
  • Routinely present to prospective students, families, counselors, faculty, and staff to share the OAR brand.
  • Plan and execute events in designated territory to increase applications and yield.
  • Sit on various in-office committees dedicated to strategy and recruitment of various populations to ensure the needs of students are being met in the recruitment cycle.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education: Bachelor's degree, AND:
  • 12 months of related experience

Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 48 months of related experience in lieu of the Bachelor's degree for a total of 60 months of related experience.

Skills:
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic math skills
  • Computer skills, including proficiency in navigating and maintaining databases
  • Some travel required for recruiting
  • Detail oriented for accuracy of data and information
  • Highly organized and ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines
  • Ability to communicate well and build rapport with students, faculty and staff
  • Ability to read and interpret policy as well as State and Federal regulations
  • Customer service skills

Certifications:
  • Valid driver's license to attend schools and events.

Advertised Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to bend, lift, stoop and carry. Ability to engage in repetitive motions.
  • Standard office environment.
  • Frequent exposure to pressure caused by deadlines and busy periods.
  • May be required to travel.
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies.
  • Requires contact with other departments and university officials.
  • Willingness to work extended and weekend hours during peak periods.

Departmental Preferences:
  • Experiences working in an admissions and recruitment operation,
  • Knowledge of OU
  • Will primarily work in Moore and Norman School districts
  • Preference to those who are bilingual with Spanish.
