Job Details
The Assistant Director for Data Services & Compliance in the office of International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) provides advanced technical support for the development and maintenance of SUNAPSIS functionality (ISSS Portal the ISSS immigration case management system), to ensure university compliance with U.S. Federal Immigration Regulations, including SEVIS Reporting (Student and Exchange Visitor Information System). This position serves as the main ISSS technical support and liaison with the SUNAPSIS IT Team, the UNC Database Administrators, the UNC PeopleSoft team, and other relevant parties and is responsible for troubleshooting technical issues with SUNAPSIS along with the data feed from PeopleSoft (Connect Carolina). This position will consult with ISSS staff and other end-users to develop and implement electronic forms in the database which includes coding template emails with the proper information based on form responses. In addition, the Assistant Director is responsible for creating workflows and SQL queries to analyze data and make proactive recommendations to improve electronic processes in sunapsis. The Assistant Director for Data Services & Compliance is also responsible for data analysis and federally mandated reporting using SUNAPSIS and must be able to assume the responsibilities as needed as a US DHS (US Department of Homeland Security) designated ARO (Alternate Responsible Officer) and DSO (Designated School Official) in SEVIS.
Master’s or Bachelors and 0-2 years’ experience; or will accept a combination of related education and experience in substitution.
Must be a U.S. citizen or U.S. permanent resident as required by federal regulations to be designated as an authorized signatory for student and scholar immigrations documents and for access to the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS).
Advanced database management, reporting tools, and relational database concepts and structures. Experience with SQL queries, and XML and related technologies.
Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. High level of organization, accuracy, and attention to detail. Experience in preparing training materials and delivering training to colleagues on federal rules and regulations. Must be able to meet deadlines without fail and with complete accuracy. Must be able to work in a team setting. Sensitivity to other cultures.
