Description of Department:

 

SUNY Oswego is recognized as a leader in international education nationally and within the State University of New York, offering a wide range of education abroad programs, international student services and recruiting, and campus international activities. The Office of International Education and Programs (OIEP) serves both domestic and international students, scholars, and campus colleagues for continued campus internationalization. Currently enrolling just under 300 degree-seeking and visiting international students, SUNY Oswego has grown its international population significantly in recent years, and seeks to further expand this population. This position will play a key role in that expected growth.

 

The Office of International Education and Programs (OIEP) at the State University of New York at Oswego invites applications to fill a full time International Services and Data Manager.

Description of Responsibilities:

 

As a member of the International Enrollment and Services team in the Office of International Education and Programs (OIEP), the International Student Services and Data Manager plays a key role in the international enrollment process through two key areas: ensuring institutional and individual compliance with federal immigration regulations, and overseeing important web- and CRM-based communications, data collection, and analysis in support of international student enrollment and retention. The individual in this position will be responsible for ensuring data integrity in SEVIS, Slate, Banner, and Argos by conducting audits and status checks, generating reports through data visualization and other tools including Excel, and analyzing data of use to the enrollment and retention of international students. They are also primarily responsible for ensuring data integrity and improving data collection processes and efficiency for immigration compliance, overseeing systems for advising students and visiting scholars on maintaining F and J status in the U.S., and contributing to important campus events like arrival and orientation week, student outreach and information sessions, and campus farewell and other events.

 

Duties:

 

• Supervise and administer SUNY Oswego's SEVIS system functioning and compliance, oversee and help prepare I-20s and DS-2019s, check alerts, responsible for CPT/OPT/STEM OPT, and vising scholars program;

• Prepare for and ensure accurate filing of recertification and redesignation for SUNY Oswego's continuous compliance, performing data organization and management;

• Ensure data integrity in SEVIS, Slate, Banner, and Argos by conducting audits, checking on registration status of students, investigating student and scholar problems and concerns, escalating issues and recommending improvements as needed;

• Administer and process student applications, manage their enrollment and matriculation processes, and interface with necessary campus offices like admissions, graduate studies, res. life and housing, and ID office on smooth enrollment processes;

• Design systems for and answering questions from international students on immigration regulations and university policies and procedures before and during attendance at SUNY Oswego, liaising with important campus offices (Admissions, Graduate Studies, New Student Orientation, Residence Life and Housing, etc.) and supervisor as needed;

• Organize, maintain, and administer accurate databases on international students (J and F), visiting scholars, and prospective students and scholars, provide and manage data for relevant reports and data visualization methods, Excel, etc. as needed by the department and university;

• Manage office's social media and website presence, implementing consistent and creative strategies with the goal of fostering a sense of campus community and belonging for potential and current international students, revising and improving in line with campus communication strategies;

• Supervise graduate assistant and other student employees in this compliance work and other office tasks.

Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

 

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent;

• Three years of experience in one or more relevant areas: advising international students/scholars on U.S. immigration regulations; advising international students on academic, admissions, or advisement matters; recruiting / enrolling international students; using advanced knowledge of complex legal or administrative matters and technology tools to manage data, track records, and generate reports;

• Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills, ability to effectively collaborate and work with others;

• Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident and be able to serve as a DHS Designated School Official (DSO) and a DOS Alternate Responsible Office (ARO),with ability to pass required background check.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

• Master's degree in relevant area such as: higher education, international education, business / marketing, data analytics, international relations, etc.;

• Experience working in a university international student and scholar services or admissions office;

• Experience as a SEVIS coordinator, international student/scholar advisor, or recruiter;

• Expertise in Slate, SEVIS, Banner, Tableau, Excel and other relevant systems;

• Experience living/working/studying abroad and significant interactions with international populations.
