This position coordinates the admissions and enrollment processes for new international students and for students for whom English is not a first language. Serves as the Primary Designated School Official (PDSO) for the college and issues all SEVIS documents and completes all SEVIS and Department of Homeland Security reporting requirements. Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Evaluates international admission documentation including financial, school transcripts, and English proficiency documents and enters official documents into the college information system
  • Reviews required international admissions documents, including immigration documents, such as financial documents, school documents, English proficiency, and transfer forms to create initial and returning Form I-20's for new students
  • Assists new international students with enrollment processes and appropriate documentation
  • Determines English proficiency as needed for registration in ESL classes and/or college level English course placement
  • Communicates with applicants regularly on an individual basis through phone calls, written communique, and various electronic means
  • Prepares and presents an International Student Orientation for new students at the beginning of Fall semester
  • Plans 1-2 events each semester to promote community building, cultural learning exchange, and fun while students are at IWCC

Required Qualification
  • Bachelor's degree required

  • Must be a U.S. citizen and be qualified to serve as the PDSO as required by the Department of Homeland Security
  • Sensitivity to and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, ethnic, and disability backgrounds of students.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate policies and procedures to students
  • Ability to work with people from a variety of linguistic and cultural backgrounds
  • Effective decision-making, critical thinking, and time management skills
  • Ability to pass a background check, have a valid U.S driver's license and good driving record

Physical Demands
  • The employee frequently is required to sit for extended periods of time and use hands to operate computer keyboard, telephone and basic office equipment
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear
  • Ability to drive company owned or personal vehicle
  • Ability to lift up to 10lbs

Salary : $42,000
