JOB TITLE: Student Services Coordinator
STATUS: Non-Exempt/Hourly
TYPE: On-Campus / Not Eligible for Remote Work
REPORTS TO: Director of Student Services
PURPOSE
The Student Services Coordinator is the student’s key resource in receiving all the tools they need to be successful in their education at Smith Chason College. This critical role responds to and identifies which students need assistance in any area of their education, by empowering the student, and connecting them to educational resources and community agencies relevant to their academic and personal needs. The Student Services Coordinator provides guidance and support for students as they navigate through the process of learning, including educating students of the importance of and strategies for the development of a strong and healthy support system. The individual in this role will engage in the student management process by responding to the needs of students encountering personal, financial, and academic challenges or social/behavioral concerns. The Student Services Coordinator is responsible for taking a leadership role in cultivating, creating and ensuring student participation in Smith Chason College campus spirit and pride.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Utilize appropriate tracking systems and other resources for early identification of at-risk students and coordinate success strategies, services, and resources
- Monitor students’ attendance and academic performance on a weekly basis, progress toward program completion, providing or recommending interventions as needed
- Assesses individual student needs, making appropriate referrals to campus services and resources as needed, and aid students in establishing realistic and attainable academic goals
- Maintain records documenting counseling and advising sessions including meeting overviews, progress notes, referrals, and follow up activities
- Develop and conduct student events including but not limited to orientation, graduation and student appreciation
- Collaborate with other departments in a positive and productive manner to ensure a student-first environment
- Acquire and maintain an awareness of new developments and best practices in student services, incorporating such knowledge into advising practices
- Maintain knowledge of Smith Chason / WCUI programs, campus resources, information systems, and policies and procedures
- Provide assistance with special community outreach activities
- Additional job-related duties as assigned by Campus Director
EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS/COMPETENCIES
- Bachelor’s degree preferred. Acceptable experience includes at minimum, five years of progressive student services experience or the equivalent in postsecondary education
- Ability to prioritize, multi-task, perform well under pressure, meet deadlines, and work a student centric schedule
- Ability to track, monitor, assess and evaluate student progress and outcomes
- Must possess strong motivational skills, oral and written communication proficiency
- Provide excellent student customer service
- Must have strong technical skills including all computer applications, internet research, database management, and analytical skills
- Strong documentation skills
- Non-negotiables include a positive attitude, the desire to help others, a self-driven nature, confident, and results-oriented
- Be able to effectively collaborate with other team members to meet daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly campus objectives
- Other necessary character traits include being a team player and having the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written
- Always behave in a professional manner in way of appearance, demeanor, and attitude
- Consistently display the highest levels of integrity in all that is done

- Must be able to remain in a stationary position for prolonged periods of time
- Can independently move objects up to 25 lbs.
- Sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate a computer keyboard, other office machinery, and perform repetitive motions
- Must have sufficient hearing and speaking ability to communicate in person or on the phone/computer with others
- Must be able to occasionally function in activities that include walking, bending, squatting, and reaching
