The School of Social Work is a seeking an Admissions Specialist. This individual provides leadership for the School of Social Work program directors for undergrad/graduate admissions and academic programs, academic advising to BA & MSW students, planning and implementation of outreach and recruitment activities on and off campus. This individual will also be collaborating with the Graduate College Admissions office to maintain the School's graduate application database.

Key Areas of Responsibilities
Recruit, Admit and Retain Prospective and Current Students for Programs, Major Departments or Colleges
- Plan and implement BA in SW and MSW student recruitment activities (e.g., Recruitment fairs, Visiting Student Days, Orientation).
- Coordinate/manage the recruitment activities for respective MSW and BASW programs.
- Consult with and explain admission policies and procedures to secondary schools, community colleges, and other educational institutions and external organizations.
- Advise prospective social work students regarding admission; evaluate transcripts.
- Assist with determining degree progression, career planning and retention.
- Analyze admissions data; develop; maintain and monitor reports to support program goals.
Enrollment Management
- Participate in the management of social work course enrollments; collect admissions data from multiple sources, assist in the development and maintenance of reports.
Academic Standards and Curricular Policies
- Recommend revisions to policies and procedures.
- Develop or maintain accurate program materials.
- Update and incorporate changes into internal and external documents.
- Assist in identifying recurring problems that may require further study.
Academic Program Management (Planning, Designing, Integrating, and Evaluating Curriculum)
- Assist with the development of academic program materials to meet social work departmental goals.
- Assist in identifying admission/retention benchmarks and anticipating barriers.
- May provide administrative oversight and coordination of social work programs.
Budget Oversight and Management
- May provide direction, assignments, feedback, coaching and counseling to assure outcomes are achieved.
Academic Planning
- Maintain extensive knowledge of relevant academic programs and resources.
- Develop internal and external advising tools and resources in collaboration with advising staff, faculty, departments, and colleges.
- Advise students regarding departmental, collegiate, and University policies and procedures; programs of study; and the development of appropriate academic plans.
Human Resources (HR)
- May provide functional and/or administrative supervision for students/staff.

Education Requirement
- Masters of Social Work degree from a CSWE accredited institution.
Required Qualifications
- Two years post-MSW social work experience minimum.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be proficient in computer software applications.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks adhering to deadlines.
- Experience in interpreting and applying policy and procedures.
- Must have a valid driver's license and the ability to meet University of Iowa Fleet Services standards.
Desirable Qualifications
- Current license at the Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) or Licensed Independent Social Work (LISW) level.
- Knowledge of Council of Social Work Education's (CSWE) standards.
- Experience working in a "team based" environment.
- Some knowledge of University policies, procedures and regulations.
