Description

The Admissions Counselor is responsible for extensive travel, student recruitment, interviews with students, review of applications, developing secondary school and community college relations, and other duties as assigned.

This position has the primary responsibility of recruiting qualified students for Methodist University and to promote the University in general. The position of Admissions Counselor will report directly to the Dean of Admissions.

Examples of Duties:
  • Conduct on campus individual and group information sessions with prospective students and their families.
  • Processing and evaluating student applications for admission.
  • Extensive travel required throughout the fall. Limited travel during spring and summer.
  • Promote the University through high school private visits, high school college fairs, and community college visits.
  • Conduct extensive cultivation of inquiries and applicants.
  • Cultivate and develop assigned recruitment territory.
  • Attend professional meetings to gain knowledge of innovative ideas which might enhance the recruitment program at Methodist University.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Dean of Admissions.


Qualifications

  • Must be available to work a 40-hour work week plus occasional evenings and some weekends.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Must be available for extensive travel.
  • High school/GED required, bachelor’s degree or equivalent strongly preferred.
  • Valid driver's license required and be eligible to drive leased automobiles.
