Description
The Student Services Associate is responsible for assisting students in both an individual and group format regarding their educational needs; teaching students techniques for accessing information; consulting with faculty and staff on student issues; and back office operations of the Registration department.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Provide students with information and assistance regarding college procedures, academic programs, non-credit programs, and graduation requirements. Assist students in accessing appropriate educational planning information and resources. Participate in and contribute to in-service training activities, which may improve registration services. Refer students to appropriate offices and services within the College to address their needs. Complies with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) in all duties Assume a share of the responsibility for answering telephones, mail, email, faxes and other communications as assigned Provides problem-solving and customer service assistance in a pleasant and knowledgeable manner as a member of a cross-functional team Perform all duties as assigned.
OVERALL PURPOSE AND RESPONSIBILITY:
The primary and most important overall responsibility of all employees is to provide service in a pleasant, helpful, and effective manner to our students and other members of the College community.
Minimum Qualifications
Education Required:
High school diploma required; Associate’s degree preferred. Relevant experience may substitute for education.
Experience Required:
Minimum of two years customer service experience. Experience in a college setting strongly preferred but not required.
Skills/Abilities /Knowledge /Other Requirements:
Ability to mediate differences between student expectations and student experiences. Understanding and knowledge of student and institutional resources. Ability to maintain and control confidential information. Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

Collaborates with department members and/or the Compliance, Assessment and Research team to support planning, assessment, data collection and reporting for continuous improvement of the college.
Employee Classification: Part-Time
