Assistant Director of Admissions
POSITION DETAILS
Located in the heart of Harlem, CCNY is the founding institution of the City University of New York system. Since 1847, The City College of New York has provided a high-quality and affordable education to generations of New Yorkers in a wide variety of disciplines. CCNY embraces its position at the forefront of social change. Within the CCNY campus, the Admissions Office serves as a primary branch of the Enrollment Management (EM) Division, and promotes the recruitment and enrollment of new students to The City College of New York.
Reporting to the Senior Associate Director of Undergraduate Admissions, the Assistant Director of Admissions will assume a leadership role in the management of communications for the Admissions Office. The Assistant Director will leverage CRM technology to drive day-to-day communications, including admissions letters, event announcements, recruitment communications and enrollment nudges. The role will support various cross-functional goals, and the ideal candidate will have experience with operations, recruitment and customer service and use their experience to develop a consistent voice to represent the institution to external stakeholders. The Assistant Director of Admissions will also develop communications for customer service areas, develop and maintain the website, expand communications plans to support student recruitment and enrollment, and streamline scholarship communications through the use of the CRM. The candidate will demonstrate evidence of fostering collaborative partnerships by working with internal and external stakeholders to support and advance the goals of the Office of Admissions.
In addition to the CUNY title Overview of duties, the tasks of the Assistant Director of Admissions include, but are not limited to:
- Manage day to day operations using the CRM, including creation and dissemination of marketing campaigns to drive prospect interest
- Develop an automated communications process for Admissions Scholarships
- Use data to inform decision making and to drive initiatives based on areas of need
- Support recruitment through digital campaigns reflecting institutional voice and values.
- Collaborate across divisions to support enrollment initiatives and goals
- Contribute to customer service support via counseling, virtual front desk, email and chat bot support
- Support other units of the Admissions office and serve as an Admissions resource for all campus stakeholders
- Manage assigned projects, such as the review of special populations
- Attend and participate in occasional weekend and evening events
- Perform related duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree and four years' related experience required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge and experience with operating a CRM system and a strong willingness to become a subject-matter expert in CRM operations
- Thorough understanding of the admissions process, including processing and operations in CUNYfirst or other student information platforms
- Familiarity with territory management, recruitment and relationship building with internal and external stakeholders
- Familiarity with higher education technology systems such as Peoplesoft Student Information System (preferably CUNYfirst), EAB Navigate, Blackboard/BrightSpace, and Degreeworks
- Strong knowledge of CCNY and CUNY admission and academic requirements and policies
- Excellent public speaking, written communication, and interpersonal skills
- Experience with customer service and development of communications to drive efficiency in external communication to prospective students
- Ability to work collaboratively and lean into work to support the Enrollment Management division. This includes but is not limited to enrollment campaign participation, training, and support of internal stakeholders

Conducts and coordinates student recruiting and other admissions activities.
- Counsels prospective, transfer, and current students on their academic goals and how they may be achieved at the College, and assists them in preparing academic plans
- Provides referrals to other College departments as needed to further assist student/applicant
- Conducts follow-up with students from inquiry stage to registration
- Reviews applications and provides preliminary recommendations on admissions
- Participates in recruitment programs such as open house sessions, and direct recruiting activities
- Performs related duties as assigned.
