School Overview
Jefferson RISE Charter School, founded by seven community members in 2014, will serve 760 students in grades 6-12 for the 2024-2025 school year. Position Overview
The Special Education Student Services Coordinator is responsible for the comprehensive management and oversight of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), 504 Plans, ABIT and student support files. This role ensures that all plans and evaluations are up-to-date and comply with state requirements. The coordinator collaborates closely with teachers, parents, and other stakeholders to ensure that students receive the necessary accommodations and support for their educational success.

As a charter school, Jefferson RISE sets its own academic calendar and daily/weekly schedule based on the needs of its students. Leadership staff work on a 12-month schedule and prospective candidates should expect to start on or around July 1st, 2024. The workday for leaders in the organization is variable; while most staff members are required to be in the building from 6:45am to 3:15pm or later (depending on after school activities), Administrative Team members may have duties outside of these times and alternative schedules as agreed upon by the Executive Director.
In addition to role-specific duties, all Jefferson RISE staff members are also expected to:

Jefferson RISE pays the following employee only costs for all full-time employees: 85% medical and 100% dental, vision, short and long term disability. The Employee covers the remaining costs, including 15% employee medical and all spouse/dependent costs. RISE offers a Simple IRA retirement account and matches up to 3% with no vestment period. Jefferson RISE reserves the right to offer different or additional benefits to the Employee at any time.

- Develop, write, and manage IEPs for students requiring special education services.
- Ensure all plans are updated regularly and in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Schedule and conduct IEP meetings, ensuring all required team members are present.
- Coordinate with teachers and service providers to monitor progress towards IEP goals and complete quarterly IEP progress reports
- Develop, write, and manage 504 plans for students requiring extra support
- Ensure all plans are updated regularly and tailored to the needs of that student
- Contact Parents, schedule, and conduct 504 meetings
- Coordinate and facilitate initial and re-evaluations for special education services..
- Ensure evaluations are completed and renewed on time, following all legal and procedural guidelines.
- Communicate with JPPS to schedule and conduct the evaluation.
- Work closely with teachers and service providers to ensure the implementation of accommodations and modifications as outlined in IEPs and 504 Plans.
- Provide training and support to staff on special education procedures and best practices.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for parents regarding IEP and 504 meetings.
- Communicate effectively with families to ensure they are informed and involved in their child's education plan.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date student files, ensuring all documentation is in compliance with state and federal requirements.
- Maintain digital student information systems on EdMod, eSER, and JCampus
- Conduct regular audits of student files to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Stay current with changes in special education laws and regulations.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

- Support school operations, including lunch duty and/or homeroom duty, as needed
- Working with individual or small groups of teachers or students as needed during and/or after the formal school day
- Communicate with families on a regular basis
- Attend a weekly one-on-one meeting with their supervisor to discuss performance, student needs, school needs, and other items that may arise
- Complete all compliance paperwork as required by the school, state or local officials, or the school’s board
Candidate Profile
Education and Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Degree in content area (preferred)
- Content area certification (preferred)
Experience and Skills:
- Experience with leading intervention strategies with middle or high school students (required)
- Experience with coaching and supporting other adults in a school-based setting (required)
- Experience developing and leading student programs (preferred)
- Technological proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint as well as other web-based applications
- Excellent communication skills
- High level of personal organization and planning
