SUMMARY AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The Education Coordinator (EC) will provide administrative resources to the Manager of Education and Staff Development. The EC will be integral in supporting the Manager of Education in managing systems to promote, plan, implement, and evaluate educational programs offered at Littleton Regional Healthcare. The EC supports clinical instructors with the integration of the Learning management System (LMS) into existing course content. The ideal candidate will deliver high quality work with minimal direction within established deadlines while remaining flexible to the changing needs of the Education Manager.

  • Assists in the development of educational programs based upon the outcome of the Annual Needs Assessment Survey with input and prioritization from the Steering Committee.
  • Coordinates, with the Manager of Education, educational programs to address specific Performance Improvement, Risk Management, Safety, or Infection Control issues.
  • Maintains an awareness of educational programs inside and outside of the Littleton Regional Healthcare system.
  • Facilitates in the delivery and record keeping of all education classes.
  • Assist the Education Manager in maintaining, updating and troubleshooting software associated with CLIA Waived testing procedures performed by clinical staff at LRH. Currently this includes QML, Novanet, and Sofia software.
  • Publishes an education calendar with updates and revisions published quarterly and as needed. Distributes paper and electronic (Intranet) education calendar monthly to all stake-holders.
  • Coordinates ACLS, PALS and NRP courses for all LRH staff and Physicians who require certifications, utilizing availability of instructors. Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Scheduling and publishing courses as well as completing and submitting rosters along with required documentation for LRH instructors to the AHA Training Center.
  • Maintain a continuous record of required certification for all staff and report to the Managers and CNO regarding active and pending compliance issues monthly.
  • Ensure that staff follow up with documentation verifying resuscitation credentials at time of hire and on a continuous basis.
  • Assist with the delivery of AHA Instructor courses as needed.
  • Manage electronic files as they relate to HealthStream. Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Receive employee information from HR regarding new hires, transfers and terminations and build appropriate employee HealthStream accounts.
  • Assign HealthStream courses as requested by the Education Manager.
  • Run reports as requested.
  • Alter employee roles with the HealthStream system as needed.
  • Build HealthStream assignments as requested by the Education Staff.
  • Troubleshoot employee access or technical issues as needed.
  • Coordinates, produces, delivers and manages a record of all clinical competencies at the direction of the Education Manager via an approved orientation manual for all LRH staff that are hired or transferred within the organization.
  • Facilitates preceptor training workshops as needed for employees who function as preceptors for new employees and internal transfer employees.
  • Meets established deadlines and maintains a high degree of accountability for outcomes.
  • Provides input during budget process and ensures department adherence to budget.
  • Maintains, and updates Staff Development policies and procedures manual annually.
  • Demonstrates ability to recognize and accept changing conditions while continuing to perform to the best of one's ability.
  • Maintains all required records in an organized fashion.
  • Coordinates with affiliated schools to place students at Littleton Regional for placement of clinical rotations
  • Serves and represents as onsite liaison for students
  • Manages and collaborates with University of New England’s Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine program to secure and place students
  • Serves as site clerkship coordinator on behalf of Littleton Regional with the University of New England
  • Manages the Clinical Student Program at Littleton Regional Hospital
  • Coordinates with affiliated schools to place students at Littleton Regional Healthcare for clinical rotations. Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Determine if schools have a current active affiliation agreement with LRH.
  • Create new affiliation agreements for schools without current agreement.
  • Aggregate and maintain current compliance records required for hosting students at LRH.
  • Update LRH Student Handbook annually.
  • Maintain vigilance while scheduling a large volume of students with appropriate staff and in an appropriate department.
  • Communicates with various departments in scheduling students with appropriate staff, on appropriate days.
  • Coordinates access to EHR training, student badges, facility tours and IT access as needed/appropriate.
  • Provide monthly schedule to all departments regarding upcoming students.
  • Budgets and submits financial documentation to Department Managers for expenses relating to students
  • Provides input during budget process and ensures department adherence to budget.
  • Teaches clinical education alongside Education Manager when deemed appropriate.
  • Recertifies staff for BLS renewals if trained and when deemed appropriate.
  • Maintains active AHA Provider and status for appropriate disciplines.
  • Contributes to the creation and distribution of educational program postings, literature, research, and computer-based learning modalities with support from the Education Manager
  • Empowered to take necessary steps to respond to identified non-compliance regarding staff educational requirements
  • Encourages and facilitates clinical staff use of Evidence-based Practice.
  • Assist in the electronic delivery and record management of the NHA online curriculum for MA’s and Phlebotomy Technicians as needed.
  • Schedule, coordinate and proctor all NHA & NCCT exams.
  • Schedule all Education Staff calendars as requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Department Manager.

    Works closely with administrative staff, clinical staff, and support staff of Littleton Regional Healthcare.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Experience/Specialized Skills:
    • Excellent communication skills required
    • Current AHA Instructor Certification in BLS (optional)
    • Current AHA Certification in BLS (Optional)
    • Experience in acute healthcare setting strongly preferred
    • Advanced computer skills required including hardware and software
    • Competency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point, Learning management system
    • Valid NH driver's license required


    Required Education/Course(s)/Training:

    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • Associates Degree Preferred


    Preferred Certification/Registration:

    • Current AHA Instructor Certification in BLS
    • Current AHA Certification in BLS
