Position Summary

The Multicultural Center at the College of Saint Benedict (CSB) and Saint John’s University (SJU) invites applications for a full-time (0.92 FTE), benefit-eligible position of International Student Services Coordinator.

This position’s primary area is to provide leadership, mentorship and support services to International F-1 visa students and to provide campus wide educational programming that promotes cultural interaction between international students and domestic students in our residential settings.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all post-acceptance SEVIS reporting for graduate and undergraduate students including, but not limited to, registration, transferring of records, I-20 reporting, record accuracy, and OPT/CPT requirements.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legal and immigration issues pertaining to F-1 students.
  • Manage pre-arrival communication and resources, mentoring, international student orientation, tax assistance, break engagement, and other student success and retention activities and programming.
  • Develop strong collaborative relationships with Student Development staff, Academic Advising, faculty, Center for Global Education, Experience and Professional Development, School of Theology, and Admission.
  • Assist new and continuing international students with their questions, maintaining their immigration status, and cultural, social, and academic adjustments to CSB+SJU.
  • Assist in coordinating assessment and evaluation to identify student needs and departmental priorities, and measure student learning that occurs as a result of interactions with the department’s programs and services.
  • Coordinate international student support committee. Serve on and advise other college/university committees, as assigned.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the director.


Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree required; master's in a related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience with international populations and/or college students; DSO experience preferred.
  • Permanent residency or US citizenship required for USCIS SEVIS compliance.
  • Familiarity with SEVIS and F-1 visa regulations.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively in diverse settings.
  • Excellent oral and written communication; proficiency in one or more foreign languages preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse cultures.
  • Proficient in basic computer programs and social media platforms.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Knowledge of student development and identity development theories; understanding of Student Affairs professional standards preferred.
  • Ability to design and facilitate training programs.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Regular travel between the campuses of College of Saint Benedict and Saint John’s University.
  • Occasional transportation of students in a university vehicle. Must have a valid MN driver’s license and qualification to drive a university vehicle.
