Title of Immediate Supervisor/Leader to Whom This Position Reports: Director of Global Engagement
*Expected Daily Work Hours: 8:00am - 5:00pm (may vary) *Expected Weekly Work Schedule: Monday - Friday
* College offices are normally open from 8:00 AM until 5:00PM, Monday through Friday. However, due to the nature of responsibility to the student body, individual offices or departments may have operating hours that extend beyond this period and may include evening or weekend hours. Non-exempt employees will normally work 8 hours per day. Overtime (any hours more than 40 per week) for non-exempt employees is required to be approved, in advance by the department supervisor. Exempt employees will typically work at least 40 hours per week and such additional time as may be reasonably required to fulfill the obligations of their position description. Such additional work may include evenings and weekends and should be described in this document.
Summary of this position:
The International Student Enrollment Counselor is responsible for all aspects of the college search, including recruiting, counseling, admitting, and enrolling prospective international students at Maryville College. The position will utilize a high degree of professional and independent judgment to closely advise potential international students in one-on-one and group settings regarding the admissions and application processes, admission requirements, immigration processes, majors, student life, etc. This includes making independent decisions on complex issues and developing detailed solutions to aid prospective international applicants with complex barriers and obstacles regarding admission. The position focuses on developing and implementing recruitment strategies, serving as a liaison with international contacts, and managing the admissions process for international students. The position also contributes to international student programming and supports campus global engagement efforts.

Develop and maintain communication with prospective students regarding the admissions process. Deliver presentations to counselors, various groups and prospective students, both in-person and virtually. Develop and maintain recruitment materials, communication flow and social media platforms for international students.
Global Engagement:
Contribute to international student leadership, support and programming, including social, cultural, and event activities. Participates in international student events and activities (e.g., new student orientations, International Education Week, on-campus cultural and celebration events).
Other roles/duties will be assigned as necessary to assist the College in the attainment of the goals set forth and the enhancement of a positive, respectful learning environment for all staff, faculty, and students.

Education required to ensure success in this position:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline from a four-year college or university.
- Master's degree in a related field like international education, preferred.
Experience required to ensure success in this position:
- Experience with international admissions, foreign credential evaluation, and/or USCIS student visa regulations preferred.
- At least 3 months of experience living, working, or studying abroad.
- Experience or familiarity with higher education, particularly in the private liberal arts college setting, is strongly preferred.

- Ability to plan, develop, coordinate, supervise, and organize programs and activities.
- Ability to interact with a diverse student population, faculty, staff, and the public.
- Ability to analyze complex situations accurately and adopt effective courses of action. Ability to advise students individually and in groups on complex student-related matters.

- Ability and willingness to learn enrollment software (Slate) and office-specific software applications.
- Strong social media, graphic design, and email marketing skills.
- Competency with MS Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
- Ability to stay abreast of advances and effective methods in higher education recruitment approaches, tools, and serves as champion for achieving best-in-class recruitment practices at MC

- Preferred candidate will have:

- Experience with international recruitment and Client Relationship Management (CRM) systems.

- Knowledge of Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) and Student Visa visa policies/procedures including the F-1 visa or others as needed.

Recruitment/Admissions
- Serve as a liaison between Maryville College and school counselors, agents, and organizations to recruit international students.
- Develop and implement international recruitment plans, including attending fairs, private visits, virtual events, and webinars.
- Review and evaluate international applications, foreign transcripts, and scholarship recommendations.
- Assist in planning international, domestic and virtual admission programs.
- Serve as a Designated School Official (DSO).
- Supports newly admitted students and assist, as needed, with new student pre-arrival information, including housing, registration, student insurance, and issuance of Certification of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant Student Status (Form I-20).
- Create and maintain student records according to USCIS regulations.
- Advise prospective students through various communication channels and manage recruitment activities.
- Support recruitment events on campus such as open houses, tours, and orientations.
- The position will create detailed reports on leads, inquiries, applications, and enrollments from a Customer Relationship Management System (CRM), and the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS)
- Develops and conducts admit-to-enroll yield events for admitted students and develops engagement activities for admitted international students.
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of MC's academic, spiritual, recreational, social, extra-curricular, and financial aid programs, with a specific focus on how these apply to international students, and accurately communicates this information to prospective students and their families.
