Job Summary/Basic Function
About This Role:
Lamar University Regional Admissions Counselors are responsible for recruiting prospective students by promoting Lamar University programs to undergraduate students, pre-admission advisement and matriculation to ensure enrollment goals are met. This position is a remote position in the Dallas and East Texas area and will live in the regional area and reports directly to one of the Assistant Directors of Admissions - Recruitment.
What You'll Do - Position Responsibilities:
- Recruit prospective freshman students by providing accurate and timely pre-admission advisement to prospective students, parents, families, and other members of the public.
- Facilitating the pre-admission, conversion, admission, and enrollment process through various sales methods and recruitment strategies to include, but not limited to automated and personalized communication, high school visits, pre-screened cold calling, presentations, etc.
- Attending events and making presentations to communicate with prospective students and their parents to promote Lamar University and its programs.
- Facilitate and implement recruitment planning and strategies for assigned territories and recruitment specialty areas based on managed yield data within a database system.
- Assisting all prospective students, and their families while on call with the ApplyTexas Application, Federal Application for Financial Student Aid ( FAFSA ) and other pre-college preparation requirements and questions.
- Train and mentor new Admissions Counselors and Regional Admissions Counselors throughout their first recruitment cycle through one-on-ones, team meetings, chat availability, shadowing opportunities, etc.
- Working directly with area high schools, technical centers, businesses, and other constituencies in activities designed to prepare students for college and enrollment at LU.
- Attend, collaborate, and assist in mandatory recruitment events both on-campus and off campus, including but not limited to Cardinal View, Admitted Student Day, Cardinal Sendoffs, Internal Staff Conferences, etc.

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift, load, and transport recruitment materials, displays, and other equipment up to 35 pounds.
Job Conditions:
- Extensive travel within Lamar University's recruitment zones
- Regular travel to Lamar University
- Evening and weekend hours are required

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree OR Combination of college credit and applicable higher education experience may be substituted while actively pursuing bachelor's degree.
- Valid driver's license.
- Reliable transportation that meets state legal requirements for operation of a vehicle.
