POSITION DETAILS
The Hunter College School of Education is dedicated to the preparation of deeply thoughtful, knowledgeable, and highly effective teachers, administrators, and counselors. Our commitment is to educate future professionals who will make a significant impact on academic achievement, as well as the intellectual, social, and emotional development of their students and clients. The School of Education is composed of over 3,000 graduate and undergraduate students enrolled in 40+ programs, taught by 75 FT and over 300 PT faculty, with school and clinical partners throughout New York City.
The Admissions Senior Advisor will play a key role expanding the scope and reach of the School's recruitment activities in order to ensure a diverse, strong, and consistent applicant pool. The position contributes to the regular work of the Office of Admissions and Recruitment. Working under the supervision of the Admissions Director, the Admissions Senior Advisor will:
- Assist in the development and implementation of an effective School of Education recruitment plan to meet admissions targets for graduate student enrollments in alignment with College and SOE goals
- Recruit prospective students for various graduate programs and career pathways by delivering presentations in- person and online, conducting individual and group meetings, participating in recruitment fairs, and utilizing email marketing and social media tools
- Work directly with prospective students to foster a sense of belonging and support them with application creation, successful submission, and enrollment into the School of Education
- Prepare and share outreach materials (flyers, brochures, giveaways), and targeted messages using CRM, that appeal to and reflect a diverse student body with various academic and professional experiences
- Maintain marketing activities and collaborate with counterparts across Hunter's graduate schools and admissions office to increase the quality and size of the school's enrollment
- Collaborate with faculty and professional staff to develop and refine recruitment and enrollment processes that expand the pool of prospective graduate students and increase the number who apply and matriculate,
- Engage in application review and outreach processes with admissions advisors and faculty
- Support yield efforts and new student orientation in collaboration with the New Student Liaison and the Office of Academic and Student Affairs
- Support data collection and analysis of recruitment strategies to determine their effectiveness, and assist in the creation of reports measuring performance
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree and four years' related experience required.
- Must be reliable, organized and a self-starter with ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to work with a diverse constituency of student, faculty, alumni, and staff populations. Ability to explain complex processes and information in simple, understandable ways to a diverse audience.
- Excellent analytical, planning, and project management skills. Must be goal-oriented with time management skills.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail. Well-developed computer skills and ability to adapt quickly to online admissions software programs. Knowledge of Microsoft applications
(Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to travel within the NY Greater Metro area. Ability to work non-standard work hours or days as needed for recruitment activities; excellent on-time attendance required.
PREFERRED
- Experience in teacher preparation and/or the teaching or counseling professions.
- Familiarity with college or graduate school admissions offices, including recruitment and social media strategies, and working with students throughout the review and application process.
- Knowledge of CUNYFirst, graphic design software, or TEACH a plus
