Job Description
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:
Specific Core Function:
Reports to and advises the Assistant Superintendent and is accountable for end results. Responsible for the leadership, administration and supervision of the District's Special Education Program and staff and the District's Student Services. Direct responsibility and oversight for every aspect of the Special Education Program.

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:
- Master's degree or equivalent in Special Education or Educational Administration
- NH Certification in at least one area of special education
- Five years of classroom experience required
- Special Education Administrative experience required.
- Knowledge of special education laws - Federal and State
- Knowledge of wellness/mental health programs
- Understanding of state and federal regulations as it to all student services.
Specific Core Function:
Reports to and advises the Assistant Superintendent and is accountable for end results. Responsible for the leadership, administration and supervision of the District's Special Education Program and staff and the District's Student Services. Direct responsibility and oversight for every aspect of the Special Education Program.
Responsibilities of the Position:
- Develop and maintain complete and cumulative individual records of all children receiving special services or enrolled in special classes.
- Monitor staff caseloads and student progress.
- Consult with staff, parents and outside agencies regarding special education program offerings.
- Respond to parents concerning the evaluation and placement of their children.
- Supervise and coordinate programs dealing with both corrective and preventative aspects of communication disorders of voice, language and articulation.
- Supervise and coordinate special instructional services for students who are blind or visually impaired.
- Supervise and evaluate all Special Education Coordinators.
- Schedule and assign psychologists, interns, and speech therapists.
- Arrange with neighboring school districts for the education of those students who cannot be adequately served in the local district.
- Oversee coordination of services to private schools within the district.
- Assist in the recruitment, selection, and recommendation for hiring of special education personnel.
- Plan, assign and direct work; appraise performance; reward and discipline employees, address complaints and resolve problems.
- Keep current with literature, new research findings, and improved techniques.
- Attend appropriate professional meetings and conferences.
- Remain informed of all legal requirements governing special education, as well as advocate for the needs of students served in special education at the state and national levels.
- Prepare applications, reports and documents for submission to local, state, and federal agencies.
- Coordinate programs and personnel in areas of primary responsibility.
