Kean University seeks an innovative and exemplary higher education leader as its next Campus Dean for the College of Liberal Arts. Kean is the only public university in the United States to have a full-scale campus in China. Surrounded by breathtaking mountains, Wenzhou-Kean University offers a world-class education in an English- language environment for Chinese, Kean USA and international students.

The Campus Dean for the College of Liberal Arts is the chief academic administrator for the College of Liberal Arts at Wenzhou-Kean University. Under the direction of the Vice Chancellor of for Academic Affairs (VCAA) at Wenzhou-Kean University and in collaboration with the Dean of the College of Liberal Arts at the Union, NJ campus, the Campus Dean is responsible for managing academic and faculty operations on the Kean campus in Wenzhou and oversees the general administration of the College. The College of Liberal Arts is one of five colleges at Wenzhou-Kean and currently offers 3 undergraduate majors and 1 graduate degree. In addition, CLA provides the majority of the core curriculum for all students on campus.

The next Campus Dean of the College will have the opportunity to build upon the University’s achievements over the past decade while stewarding the College toward its next chapter. Overseeing 85 faculty and nearly 800 students, the Dean will play a leading role in identifying and implementing strategic priorities for the successful future of the College of Liberal Arts. The next Dean will continue to enhance academic offerings, recruit and retain talented faculty and staff, and elevate the student experience. They will also serve as a strong advocate for a liberal arts education and continue to tackle the question of translating a liberal arts curriculum to Chinese and international audiences.

Qualifications include: an earned terminal degree from an accredited institution in a liberal arts related discipline; demonstrated excellence in university teaching; a strong record of scholarly/creative and professional accomplishment; and a minimum of six years of progressive experience in higher education or a similar environment.

The Campus Dean is an employee of Kean University. The affiliated State of New Jersey title for this position is Associate Dean. This position is located at the Wenzhou-Kean University campus in Wenzhou, China but travel is required to the Kean USA campus on an as needed basis.

Estimated salary is $140,000 - $160,000 and includes housing, a travel allowance, and a generous benefits package.
