Department Summary
The mission of the Division of Student Affairs is to create transformational experiences for all HSC students by providing tailored support and fostering holistic development. There are 8 functional units within the Division of Student Affairs: Center for Student Life, Career Readiness Center, Center for Academic Performance, Office of Care and Civility, Testing and Evaluation Services, International Services, Office of Disability Access, and Student Assistance Resource Center.
Position Overview
The Director of Student Life is a midmanager position which provides supervision, coaching, and mentoring to fulltime professional staff members within their area of responsibility. The position coordinates programs, services, and activities in an effort to promote student learning outcomes established within each academic program on campus. The goal of this position is to create opportunities to promote learning, ethical decision making, scholarship, leadership, and a sense of belonging amongst the student body.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and six (6) years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Ability to supervise and lead a time; Student development expertise in a higher education setting; Strong organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
Masters degree in Higher Education or related field. Three years prior professional experience in residential life, student development, student activities, orientation programs, student leadership programs, or institutional event planning at an institution of higher education.

Required License/Registration/Certifications
Job Duties:
- Provide leadership and supervision to the Center for Student Life (CSL), including budget and assessment.
- Oversee CSL operations, including New Student Orientation, Registered Student Organizations, First Year Experience programming, Peer Mentoring, and Institutional Events.
- Develop collaborative partnerships and programs across campus, both inside and outside of the classroom, to ensure strategic integration of CSL programs, initiatives, and services.
- Monitor the effectiveness of student organizations and yearlong mentorship programs to foster continuous improvement and growth.
- Serve as Chair of the Student Fee Advisory Committee (State of Texas Compliance Requirement).
- Provide consultation and assistance to faculty, staff, and administration related to the needs of students.
