Description

These positions act as recruiters and advisors and are complex administrative positions that must maintain extensive knowledge of university admission requirements, policies, and procedures in order to interpret those regarding admissions. Incumbents must be able to implement a comprehensive recruitment strategy within a specific territory or specific population of students and advise students on enrollment requirements. Travel and promote the university in a positive manner at recruitment events including college fairs and high school visits. Educate and inform prospective students, parents, and high school counselors about all aspects of the university including degree programs, admissions requirements, scholarships and financial aid. Assist in the planning and implementation of on and off campus events for potential students including group visit days, prospective student visit days, yield events, and orientation days. Actively manage the inquiry and admit pools to maximize the number of applications, admits, and enrolled students.

Examples of Duties

Develop and implement a comprehensive recruitment strategy within a specific territory or specific population of students and advise students on enrollment requirements to include: -40%
  • Use historical and current data to formulate a strategic recruitment plan for assigned territory.
  • Travel and promote the university in a positive manner at recruitment events including college fairs and evening programs in assigned territory.
  • Schedule and visit high schools and counselors in assigned territory in fall and spring semesters.
  • Plan, organize, and implement recruitment plan with direct and independent interaction with the key stakeholders in assigned territory.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with high school counselors and other key stakeholders.
  • Keep prospective students up to date with on and off campus events
  • Participate in phone calling campaigns and assist in orientation and enrollment days.
  • Participate in extensive training program each summer to learn about the University.

Educate and inform prospective students, parents, and high school counselors about all aspects of the university: -25%
  • Disseminate information pertaining to academic programs, financial aid and scholarships, admissions standards, and campus life.
  • Review applications for admission and make determination and recommendations for admission, hold, or denial status.
  • Communicate with prospective students, parents and community through appointment, telephone, email and other media and materials concerning the benefits of attending UCM.
  • Assist with the development of enrollment marketing publications and communications including letters, brochures, website posting, electronic mail and other mediums.
  • Present programs to high school students and their parents about college planning and the college decision-making process.
  • Inform high school students about UCM during planned high school visits.
  • Build relationships with prospective students and parents utilizing a one to one marketing approach.


Assist in the planning and implementation of on and off campus events for prospective students: -20%
  • Meet with individual visitors to campus during assigned days/weeks in the office
  • Participate in events such as group visit days, admitted student days, and orientation
  • Communicate with administrators, faculty, and staff to formulate ideas and gather feedback regarding programs and events.
  • Develop yield events for assigned territory.

Actively manage the inquiry and admit pools to maximize the number of applications, admits, and enrolled students: -15%
  • Utilize provided reports to track prospective and admitted students. Analyze data and prepare reports
  • Audits student records and notifies students/potential student of problems with their academic records including transcripts, registration, prerequisites, etc.
  • Audits student data and conducts statistical research to target population for recruitment and judge recruitment effectiveness.
  • Follow-up with students based on current communication flows.


Typical Qualifications

Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree: Preference to those in marketing, communication, public relations, or related field.
  • Preference given to UCM graduates.

Experience:
  • One (1) year of demonstrated work experience including recruitment, sales, marketing, or student ambassador required.
  • Preference given to candidates with higher education recruitment, sales, or marketing experience.


Supplemental Information

Special Qualifications: Incumbent must be 21 or older, per state vehicle rental contract requirements.

Special Working Conditions: Extensive travel during fall and spring semesters and may include evening, weekends, and overnight commitments.
