STRIVE is active in 13 U.S. locations: in three directly-operated sites and through 10 licensed partners across the country. STRIVE is pursuing an ambitious growth plan to expand our impact in current and new cities.
SUMMARY:
The Admissions Specialist will work as part of the team to interview and assess students for readiness to participate in STRIVE’s Career Path program after application submittal. The Admissions Specialist will make sure students have all necessary documentation for enrollment, and assess any other life issues students may be encountering to ensure they are referred to any resources if needed.
Requirements
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES:
• Conduct interviews with each individual who completes the application process to assess applicants’ readiness to participate in STRIVE Career Path program.
• Screen applicants for barriers to obtaining/maintaining employment such as; active drug use, mental health issues, chronic homelessness, and other issues that could prevent success in the program.
• Process skills testing ensuring potential student pass or retest if necessary.
• Review enrollment applications for accuracy and completion.
• Facilitate information sessions to help direct applicants to the appropriate program.
• Ensure all required documentation is received from applicant by first week of training, and explain if any further documentation is needed before workshop enrollment. Verify if the applicant passed their GED.
• Enter additional applicant information into Apricot daily.
• Ensure all documentation is in compliance with contractual obligations and file appropriately.
• Refer assessed participants who meet the criteria to final interview session.
• Conduct candidate review session with stakeholders to determine eligibility
• Meet all level of service commitments as defined by the Managing Director.
• Report, document, and elevate individuals who fail to meet STRIVE requirements to supervisor.
• Provide daily updates on upcoming cohorts to the entire Career Path team
QUALIFICATIONS:
• A minimum of an Associate’s degree or 2 years of related experience
• Ability to work independently in a fast pace environment as well as within a team.
• Possess ability to work with a wide range of personalities and maintain an upbeat, positive attitude.
• Possess good communication skills; public speaking experience a plus.
