Coastal Carolina University is currently accepting applications for the following full-time position: Coordinator of Education Abroad Programs in the Center for Global Engagement.
Coastal Carolina University is seeking an engaging, global-minded and culturally aware individual to work as a part of our education abroad team in our vibrant and welcoming Center for Global Engagement (CGE). As education abroad is a vital part of Coastal Carolina University’s new strategic plan, our Coordinator of Education Abroad Programs will play an important role in the expansion and growth of education abroad. This position oversees our comprehensive advising services utilizing an empowered advising approach. This valued colleague will also have responsibility within our innovative faculty/staff travel with students’ program and assist with submission of all of Coastal's study/intern abroad applications. In this role, this colleague will have the creativity to design signature events to generate greater awareness of education abroad at Coastal Carolina, and this colleague will also assist in managing and supporting vital administrative policies to ensure a successful study abroad experience from beginning to end. Continuous learning is considered a key component of being able to support a diverse range of students and ensure adherence to best practices.
Coastal Carolina University is a public comprehensive liberal arts institution located in Conway, South Carolina, just nine miles from the Atlantic coastal resort city of Myrtle Beach. Duties include, but not limited to:
1. Oversees comprehensive advising services and procedures for education abroad experiences utilizing an empowered advising model while employing highly responsive customer service and attention to confidentiality.
2. Coordinates assigned portfolios of education abroad programs and supports other areas to apply best practices in a team-based environment and serves in an on-call capacity to respond to basic risk management situations abroad on a rotational basis.
3. Manage operational duties associated with program setup, application management and processing associated with both CCU’s study abroad application management system and other campus systems and processes to support timely, accurate, and efficient study abroad program service delivery.
4. Identify, design, and implement engaging and interactive education abroad awareness events, including but not limited to semester study/intern abroad expo, pre-departure orientations, in-class and on-campus presentations, etc.
5. Lead assessment initiatives in support of continuous improvement and recommends changes in policies and procedures to enhance service effectiveness grounded in best practices for education abroad.
Required Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree and experience in student services programs.
Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree. Experience in advising students on different types of study abroad opportunities. Event planning experience a plus. Experience working with student information systems and education abroad platforms is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Ability to establish and maintain productive and effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and parents. Excellent written and oral communication skills; Experience with MS 365 (Word, Excel, SharePoint, OneDrive, PowerPoint and Teams) is required. Ability to design marketing materials is a plus. Thrives in a fast-paced environment where multitasking and attention to detail and organization is required. Maintains composure in challenging situations. Must be available by phone and/or text to support responses to basic risk management situations outside of regular working hours. Ability to work well with students, administration and faculty. Ability to understand and implement the University and State policies using discretionary judgment. Capable of a high level of confidentiality in handling student information. Ability to demonstrate a high level of intercultural awareness to manage complex discussions effectively.

Normal work hours are Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Must be flexible to meet the special scheduling needs of the university.
