Job Description
The Student Services Specialist performs a variety of tasks associated with the academic support, retention, and progression of conditionally admitted students, undecided (exploratory) students, some pre-nursing students, and students enrolled in college courses in the high schools/early entry high school students admitted to University College. The Student Services Specialist is a professional who will actively pursue the development of a holistic advising relationship in order to facilitate the success, retention, and continued progress of each student admitted into University College. Each population of students admitted to University College is considered transitionary and at-risk. The Student Services Specialist must be able to identify and recognize a student’s goals, needs, fears, anxieties and have knowledge of all campus resources available to support student success. Problems faced in this position are highly varied, complex, and often non-recurring, which may require novel and creative approaches to resolution. Job responsibilities require the ability to develop and evaluate alternatives for possible courses of action. Work is performed within guidelines and established standards.
