The University of Iowa Office of Undergraduate Admissions is seeking to hire a 100% Associate Director, National Recruitment.

This position will lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive recruitment plan focused on growing enrollment of talented first-year students from states not contiguous to the State of Iowa. This position reports to the Executive Director of Admissions and will serve on the senior leadership team in the University of Iowa Office of Admissions. While the Associate Director will be responsible for high level planning and strategy development; they will also maintain a recruitment territory comprised of multiple non-contiguous states. Additionally, this position will supervise a team of regional representatives based in national markets.

This position will have responsibilities that include:
  • Student recruitment and relationship management.
  • Public promotion of the University of Iowa.
  • Student transition services; guidance on policy and process decisions.
  • Leadership and supervision including performance evaluation and proactive professional development and mentorship.
This position is eligible for an on-campus (Iowa City, IA) or remote working arrangement. For a remote candidate, you must reside in one of the following locations: Texas, California, Northern Virginia or Washington DC.

About the Department:The Office of Undergraduate Admissions is dedicated to assisting and supporting prospective, new and current undergraduate students through services such as information sharing, campus visits, admission application and liaising with academic areas, financial aid, student life and advisors. Education & Experience Required:
  • A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum five years of experience as an undergraduate admission professional.
Competencies Required:

Demonstrates an extensive proficiency level in the following competencies:
  • In depth knowledge of current trends and best practices in college admissions.
  • Collaborating across multiple departments or units to engage students or staff in programs or initiatives.
  • Ability to operate a program by developing, promoting, and implementing the specific goals and objectives of the program.
  • Decision making and critical thinking; ability to analyze situations fully and accurately and reach productive decisions.
  • Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools, and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
  • Ability to foster a welcoming and respectful workplace environment while recognizing personal differences.
  • Knowledge of supervisory fundamentals and related or transferrable skills and experience in managing or overseeing work and performance of others.
  • Must be available to travel extensively; could include overnight, evening, and weekend travel and work.
  • A valid driver's license and the ability to meet the Fleet Safety Program guidelines.
  • The ability to move boxes and materials up to 40 lbs.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree
  • Minimum seven years of experience as an undergraduate admission professional.
  • Experience supervising professional admissions staff.
  • Working knowledge of the college recruitment and outreach landscape in states not contiguous to Iowa.
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of University of Iowa policies, procedures, and regulations.

Work Modality: This position is eligible for an on-campus (Iowa City, IA) or remote working arrangement. For a remote candidate, you must reside in one of the following locations: Texas, California, Northern Virginia or Washington DC. Per policy, work arrangements will be reviewed annually, and must comply with the remote work program and related policies and employee travel policy when working at a remote location.

Compensation: $60,000 to commensurate with Competitive Benefits
