Job Details

The University of Minnesota seeks an experienced professional to lead International Student and Scholar Services and ensure delivery of exceptional services to support our community of international students and scholars. The Assistant Vice Provost provides vision, oversight, and leadership to all areas of this comprehensive office: employment-based visas, sponsored and exchange students, personal and academic counseling and advising, immigration advising, and student engagement and intercultural initiatives that enhance student success. The AVP manages a staff of approximately 30, with five direct reports.

International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) is dedicated to serving the University of Minnesota’s international community, which includes around 5,400 international students and 1,200 international scholars. ISSS is located on the Twin Cities campus, but many of its responsibilities—especially those concerning international faculty and staff—also serve the University’s other campuses in Crookston, Duluth, Morris, and Rochester.

The position requires a Ph.D. in international education, international studies, student services, paralegal studies, comparative education, or related field, and at least 5 years experience of oversight for international student and scholar services in a higher education setting.

Company

The flagship of the University of Minnesota System, the Twin Cities campus is Minnesota’s only land-grant university and one of the most prestigious public research universities in the nation. Founded in 1851 near Saint Anthony Falls on the banks of the Mississippi River, we are one of five universities in the nation with an engineering school, medical school, law school, veterinary medicine school, and agricultural school all on one campus.
