Position Summary This position carries a high level of responsibility, serving as the primary administrative resource for student services and communications in the department. It acts as a liaison between the department and other University units related to student services, communications and marketing, and other departmental activities. Overall duties include representing the department's graduate and undergraduate programs to various stakeholders, including current and prospective students, alumni, and industry partners.
Responsibilities for the graduate program include recruiting students, both domestic and international. For the undergraduate program, responsibilities include recruiting students, developing engagement strategies, and fostering interactions with alumni, potential employers, and internship providers to enhance learning and career outcomes for current and future students.
This position supports the graduate and undergraduate coordinators in the department, along with key personnel in the CAES Office of Academic and Faculty Affairs. It involves working closely with students and department student organizations, such as the Agricultural Economics Club, the Environmental Economics and Management Club, Eta Sigma Delta, and the AAEC Graduate Student Association. Additionally, this role assists faculty in the development, student recruitment, and implementation of experiential learning opportunities, including international study abroad programs.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
Demonstrated ability to coordinate and manage multiple competing projects in an organized and efficient manner by prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines
Ability to operate effectively in both independent and leadership roles
Excellent computer skills, including student systems, Adobe Experience Manager, Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, and WordPress
Demonstrated ability to create engaging social media content and web-based materials for communication and engagement with students, alumni, and industry
Extensive knowledge of the requirements of both the undergraduate and graduate degree programs
Organizational skills, self-motivation, good written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
Strong interpersonal and creative problem-solving skills, as well as a positive, collaborative approach to working with students and colleagues

Co-chair departmental communications and recruiting committees with a faculty co-chair
Lead in the development of departmental short and long-term goals and action plans
Serve as primary departmental liaison with CAES professional advisors and recruitment staff
Coordinate and guide undergraduate student club activities
Develop external foundation reports on recruiting, budget development for communications and recruitment, and programmatic goal development for recruiting and alumni relations
Serve as the primary supervisor for external student ambassadors, which includes mentorship and leading the professional development for the group
Coordinate and collaborate with 4-H, FFA, middle school and high school students, counselors, and other appropriate people/organizations for departmental recruiting programs
