Job Description:

Reporting to the Associate Vice President of Enrollment and Admission Services, will develop strategies and approaches to implement strategic initiatives and international new student recruitment activity; direct new program planning, development and implementation; collaborate with key internal and external stakeholders to execute strategic initiatives; maintain effective relationships; assist with developing annual strategic goals and objectives along with internal policy and procedure to aid in meeting those goals and objectives; work collaboratively with stakeholders, leadership, and other related staff to define and identify all required infrastructure needs to implement strategic initiatives set forth by evolving department and portfolio. In addition to those strategic initiative responsibilities the Director will participate in the hiring, training, and evaluation of department staff; supervise directly and/or through subordinate management all department staff; serves as a representative of the University at state, regional and national organizations, boards, councils, and committees, as assigned; resolve problems and/or issues affecting the department; directs measures to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the department; direct, manages and oversees the design, development, coordination and evaluation of departmental programs and projects to ensure achievement of established outcomes.

Essential Duties:
  • Leads international recruitment operations for the University to increase international undergraduate new student enrollment.
  • With direction from the Associate Vice President and ASU leadership, assists with the strategy development and execution of the annual undergraduate recruitment plan associated with new student enrollment for international freshmen and transfer students.
  • Develops specific, market-based recruitment strategic plans based on university enrollment goals.
  • Monitors progression towards institutional new student enrollment objectives for new international students, developing intervention strategies to assure the achievement of such goals.
  • Advises and assists in the planning for marketing strategy for the international student population with the Enrollment Services Communication team, the Hub, ASU Online and others.
  • Supervises, hires, manages, evaluates, and assists with training staff responsible for the recruitment of new international students through direct reports and a subordinate supervisor.
  • Find creative solutions to grow relationships with Sponsoring organizations.
  • Annually prepares relevant operating budgets for international recruiting and operations.
  • Maintains positive relationships with existing partners to ensure the growth of international enrollment.
  • Advises and assists in the planning and execution of pathway programs, including but not limited to, partnerships with international high schools and community colleges.


Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience managing international recruitment personnel.
  • Experience coordinating international recruitment operations.
  • Experience working in a higher education environment at a director or at the manager level in admissions, marketing and recruitment fields.
  • Experience managing recruitment and recruitment personnel traveling overseas.
  • Experience supervising recruitment staff based overseas.
  • Experience building and maintaining strong relationships with International partners and Sponsorship organizations.


Working Environment:

Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse; frequently required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work. Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds. Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts. Frequent travel to various foreign countries requiring extended exposure to environments with potential for adverse health and physical conditions. Extended and prolonged air and vehicular travel, operation of a motor vehicle; Regular use of standard office equipment including, but not limited to: computer workstation/laptop (keyboard, monitor, mouse), printer, fax, calculator, copier, telephone and associated computer/technology peripherals; this position receives regular review of objectives. Frequent evenings and weekends are expected.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and seven (7) years of experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field including two (2) years managerial experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Driving Requirement:
This position may require driving. Employee must possess a valid US Driver’s license of the appropriate class and required endorsements throughout employment.
